Leading Mexican tourism companies and associations commit to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics
Eleven of Mexico’s major tourism companies and associations have signed commitments to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, joining the growing number of private sector players that have pledged to promote and implement the values of responsible and sustainable tourism as championed by the Code (Campeche, Mexico, 24-25 October).

Sustainable tourism central to the future of Africa’s Parks
Tourism is one of the most effective ways to preserve Africa’s national parks and protected areas while creating jobs and income for local communities. This was one of the main conclusions of the First Pan-African Conference on Sustainable Tourism in African National Parks, organized by UNWTO and the Government of Tanzania (Arusha, Tanzania, 15-18 October 2012).

UNWTO opens two new Sustainable Tourism Observatories in China
The Kanas Lake Nature Reserve in the extreme north-west of China and the city of Chengdu, one of China’s most populous cities, are the locations of two new UNWTO Sustainable Tourism Observatories designed to monitor the environmental, social and economic impacts of tourism.

UNWTO launches Global Partnership for the Hotel Industry

The Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry (BTW) has signed the Private Sector Commitment to the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, joining the growing number of private sector companies and associations which have pledged to the principles of the Code (Berlin, Germany, 8-9 October).
