The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), jointly with the the Ministry of Economy of Portugal and the Lisbon Municipality, is organizing the First UNWTO Mayors Forum for Sustainable Urban Tourism - ‘Cities for all: building cities for citizens and visitors’, on the 5th of April, in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Forum aims to provide a unique platform to discuss issues and solutions for developing and managing tourism in cities in a way that promotes economic growth, social inclusion and environmental sustainability.

In a time of intense debate over growing number of tourists and the livability and sustainability of cities, it is essential that all stakeholders – residents, visitors, local, regional and national authorities and private sector – work together to respond to the current and upcoming challenges.

The Forum seeks to promote the integration of tourism into the urban development agenda as well as set key priorities and alliances to build inclusive and sustainable cities for all, a commitment which we hope to strengthen with the adoption of the Lisbon Mayors Charter on Sustainable Urban Tourism.

The forum, a by invitation-only event, will bring together Mayors, Ministers of Tourism and relevant companies and organizations from around the world who share a visionary leadership aimed at creating cities for all.
