Delivering As One: Steering Committee on Tourism for Development

Since 2010, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has been leading an initiaitve for a more cohesive approach to tourism development at the international level. In line with the United Nations commitment of 'Delivering-as-one', the initiative of UNWTO saw nine key international organizations joined forces and formed the United Nations Steering Committee on Tourism for Development (SCTD) with the objective to strengthen the developmental impact of international tourism.

The SCTD is composed by:

1. International Labor Organization (ILO)

2. International Trade Center (ITC)

3. United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)

4. United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

5. United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

6. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

7. United Nations Industrial Organization (UNIDO)

8. United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) 

9. World Trade Organization (WTO) 

The United Nations Steering Committee on Tourism for Development (SCTD) brings toegther the tourism specific experiences and expertise of each of its members with a view to creating synergies for a more coordinated, effective and efficient delivery of technical assistance to developing countries, thus complementing their efforts to build up a competititve national tourism sector.
